For this digital release I wanted to create a moment in a nightclub that you might accidentally catch a glimpse of. The ones that happen in the corners or against the walls. Two masked young lovers embrace for the last time. In contrast to the colourful disco lighting of the surrounds. Its also the first time ive used flash-photography to render the image. I really wanted that flashed out/contrast look as if it was from a passing photographer.

This was a collaboration between myself and Shayna Quinn. The idea was to create an unexpected scenario for workers leaving the factory. At first you think the old man is the worker, but as you move through the illustration you realise that the old man is the factory and the worker is the Bee. The cover was double sided so you could have his face or his sectioned head, revealing the factory. We used a collage of over 100 photos of an abandoned factory in the Wairarapa, with illustrations of plants and an old man.

This was a great opportunity to do something different that didnt look typically like a 'Hip-Hop' album. Of course Tom's music is not like other hip hop. And he is influenced by a lot of other things outside of hip hop. Most importantly it was important to capture and interpret his music and rhymes. The Beat is the twisted metal wreckage of two cars appears to still be alive. The words are layers of green applied to each kink and twist.

I was living in Berlin at the time of doing this cover. I found myself heavily influenced by the people there. All of the people I was hanging out with were very anti commercial. I was told that major brand billboards didn't last long in berlin before they were torn down or disfigured. This cover combines conspiracy theories (hidden rulers of the world), the changing face of the planet as humans continue to create excess waste, genetic modification and the way these truths are re-packaged and served back to us in a shiny package. If you didnt guess, the fox with two mouths is George W.

This cover, dubbed 'raving bears' by many, is a response to the colour and energy of So So Moderns live show. Perhaps also a commentary on the crowd and being jammed in like animals. Note the saucer eyes on each bear.

This Cover also won the best cover design at the Bnet 2007 music awards.
